Description: The Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit will conduct a demonstration of supportive services to older adults aging in place in the Naturally Occurring Retirement Communities (NORCs) of Oak Park and Southfield, Michigan. The demonstration will establish resident councils, volunteer opportunities and community events to help empower older adults; develop and maintain neighborhood partnerships and collaborations; design intergenerational and older adult programming activities; provide social services and link older residents to community resources; and provide transportation services. This will enable older adults to age in place while enhancing their quality of life and strengthening their community. The overarching goal of the demonstration is to create a replicable model of supportive services in order to support older adults to remain in the community for as long as possible.
