Description: Serial Number Tracking (SNT) supports the Naval Supply Systems Command (NAVSUP) goal of providing effective combat capability to the warfighter and leveraging technology and best business practices. SNT utilizes Automatic Identification Technology (AIT) to store and retrieve specific maintenance and supply significant information concerning Navy repairable assets. The program uses bar coding, contact memory buttons (CMBs) and AIT read/write devices to document maintenance, supply and transportation information about repairable components on the components themselves. It utilizes the AIT read/write devices to record the information on the bar code or CMB, and to retrieve that information and enter it into maintenance, supply and transportation databases. Finally, development of a web-based SNT system allows the user to query the various information systems and track the repairable component through the maintenance, supply and transportation processes. Upon final implementation of this system NAVSUP will have total visibility of repairable assets while installed, in repair, during transportation and in storage
