Madigan Army Medical Center Trauma Assistance

1 recipient will receive $1,300,000. This is a continuing earmark.
Year Enacted: 2005
Description: Tacoma Trauma Trust serves Fort Lewis and surrounding community with trauma Level II care and provides continuing support of Madigan Army Medical Center's (MAMC) trauma training program. Funds are distributed amongst three health systems (MAMC, Tacoma General Hospital and St Joseph Medical Center) comprising the consortium based on workload. Due to insufficient capacity, MAMC alone cannot absorb the entire trauma Level II workload for more than 1.5 million people, many of which are beneficiaries of the military health system living in the South Puget Sound region of Washington State. This collaborative program is nationally unique and a model for cooperation between the military and civilian healthcare entities.
