Advanced Strapdown Seeker (ASDS)

1 recipient will receive $3,353,000. This is a first-time earmark.
Year Enacted: 2005
Description: Exploits new technologies to significantly enhance the performance of the seeker while reducing the life cycle cost. Current sensors typically view in a single Infrared wave band. The ASDS will view the threat scene with sensors in multiple wave bands. This combination will increase the defended range for a given booster and will reduce the effectiveness of decoys and other counter measures that may otherwise prevent the destruction of a threat reentry vehicle.
