Description: Develop prototype batteries for PAC-3 and Standard Missle-3 Throttling Divert & Attitude Control System (SM-3 TDACS) missile applications using the advanced electrochemical system Cobalt Disulfide (CoS2). Demonstrate the performance and capability of CoS2 systems to achieve insertion in a production missile application. Develop a lithium silicon (LiSi) manufacturing process to provide a second high-rate/low cost source of supply. This effort sustains a second (and only domestically owned) source of supply for thermal batteries.
