Secure Pervasive Computing (PVC) for Advanced Combat Vehicles

1 recipient will receive $3,500,000. This is a first-time earmark.
Year Enacted: 2005
Description: The U.S. Army's Tank-Automotive RD&E Center (TARDEC) is developing a deployable, agile and versatile force to meet the demands of the modern battlefield. A critical component of this effort is to provide real-time, secure situational awareness to the individual combat vehicle. In order to achieve this level of communication, TARDEC must develop a system that increases the warfighter's situational awareness utilizing a Pervasive Computing (PvC) technology with appropriate access controls to create and manage community of interest (COI) domains. These COIs must be transparent to the warfighter, yet require the appropriate level of authentication and encryption. The ideal solution must integrate available PvC technology with an evaluated EAL 4, FIPS 140-1 evaluated product to ensure data security and integrity.
