Description: Micro Electrical Mechanical Systems Reliability Assessment Program: The work is directly supporting the development efforts for the Safety and Arming device for the XM29 Airburst Weapon and the Inertial Measuring Unit for common guidance program. Environmental stress screening tests are being conducted on these MEMS devices in order to establish potential failure mechanisms. Joint Test Protocols for detection of failures and the assessment of reliability of MEMS devices are under development. These protocols will facilitate the technology transfer of MEMS into weapon systems.
