Description: The objective is to determine if the use of a hands-free clinical data entry system will significantly improve the documentation of critical point of care information. In this initial phase, a limited prototype system will be sued to determine if a positive impact on provider productivity and satisfaction, along with enhanced reimbursements, decreased training time, and reduced health care costs can be realized. The following components will be integrated into the system: 1) Speech Recognition, 2) Encrypted Wireless Communications, 3) Natural Language Processing, and 4) Clinical Specific Ontology`s. MODIFICATION: The modification proposal will focus on the possibility of interfacing HFEHR (Hands-Free Electronic Health Record) technology with AHLTA( Armed Forces Health Longitudinal Technology Application) and improving the functionality of the system and extending the OT&E (Operational Testing & Evaluation) to increase the sample population.
