Description: The University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston in collaboration with the Texas A&M University System is in the final year of the DREAMS Digital EMS research project. This research as developed advanced ground ambulances and hospital based workstations that allow trauma and other medical specialists to treat patients more quickly by providing a `virtual` presence of a physician at the emergency scene. The overall goal of the Digital EMS ambulance and hospital systems is to improved the diagnosis and treatment of critically injured people in the field by expediting their access to medical experts at trauma centers through utilization of various modern communications and monitoring devices.
