1 recipient will receive $1,000,000. This is a continuing earmark.
Year Enacted: 2005
Description: CALSTART Defense Advanced Transportation Technology Program: CALSTART shall facilitate the development of commercial hybrid trucks to support the Army's interest in hybrid electric vehicle technology. The CALSTART effort shall support the Hybrid Truck Users Forum (HTUF) which is the prime component of Advanced Transportation Technologies. CALSTART shall assist in the accelerated development of hybrid electric vehicles through the HTUF & their technology outreach efforts. Technology companies & OEMs pursuing hybrid electric applications in a variety of heavy platforms see HTUF as a codes & standards forum that supports the Army as Army develops these technologies for future truck applications. This shall enable Army Program Managers to act as an agent for the military in making sure the latest commercial technology is incorporated into defense strategy & is made available to Future Tactical Truck Systems (FTTS) & Advanced Concept Technology Demonstrator (ACTD) program efforts. The concurrent commercial program will ensure the development of core technology & allow the U.S. military to insert emerging requirements.
