3D Bias Weaving/Braiding Technology

Year Enacted: 2005

Description: The funds would be used to complete the development for weaving technology to incorporate +/- 45 degree fibers in 3 dimensional composite fiber reinforcements for use in aircraft structural joints. These fibers will significantly increase joint strength and damage tolerance. This technology will enable the Air Force to apply advanced low cost composites structures technology to highly loaded joint applications.
