Marine Airborne Re-Transmission System (MARTS)

Description: MARTS is used to extend the range of tactical radios in the area of operation. MARTS does this by using a tactically transportable Aerostat system, which retransmits through antennas aloft and uses fiberoptics to connect to the ground station. An Aerostat tethered at 3000 feet altitude can retransmit a signal over a 160 mile diameter.
