Health Query and Analysis System

1 recipient will receive $3,291,000. This is a continuing earmark.
Year Enacted: 2005
Description: The Health Query and Analysis System project will provide enhanced medical surveillance capability to rapidly obtain, analyze and provide more comprehensive and precise medical information. The enhancements will be accomplished by integrating prototype medical surveillance applications with the DoD's Theater Medical Information System (TMIP). Additional preventive health techniques, adapted from traditional and innovative health monitoring and response methods, will be incorporated into the system. User feedback will be utilized to further refine the system. Integrating HQAS with TMIP will provide improved and advanced preventive health analysis and investigative tools to identify and manage disease outbreaks or the effects of deployment of biological agents. The system will permit a more effective and timely response to an outbreak of infectious disease or a bioterrorism event due to the capability to rapidly recognize trends in symptoms and diagnoses.
