Electromagnetic (EM) rail Gun test munition (Note: only for the development of an instrumented test munition that will characterize the test projectile designs being developed for the EM rail gun)

Year Enacted: 2005
Description: This effort includes the design, fabrication and delivery of an Instrumented Long Range Test Projectile (ILRTP). The ILRTP consists of the Non -Instrumented Pusher Assembly (NIPA), an instrumented projectile and a sabot. This instrumentation will provide in-bore and short range in-flight data for the hypersonic projectile for EM gun. Major deliverables include a Product Drawings and Associated Part Lists for the ILRTP; (12) Obturators; (5) Instrumented, Long Range Test Projectiles, Variant A, Unstable, Uninstrumented; (2) Instrumented Long Range Test Projectiles, Variant B, Unstable; and (2) non-Instrumented Pusher Assemblies.
