Description: This effort included the development of natural polymers based on filled soybean protein/vegetable oil derivatives for possible use in a chaff cartridge; the preparation of polylactic acid/cellulose acetate blends that optimize softening point and biodegradability considerations; and the development of novel exfoliated clay reinforcements to provide physical and thermal reinforcement and a mechanism to encourage biodegradation in high salt environments.
