Description: Public Law 108-199, enacted January 23, 2004, authorized the acquisition, from willing sellers, of 4,500 acres containing Fern Lake and its surrounding watershed. Funding was used to commence the phased acquisition from Trust for Public Land (TPL) of the 3,794 acres previously owned by Ataya Hardwoods LLC.
