Description: Schuylkill River Valley National Heritage Area was authorized in 2000 to conserve, interpret and develop the historical, cultural, natural and recreational resources related to the industrial and cultural heritage of the Schuylkill River Valley of Southeastern Pennsylvania. Funding was provided to construct the Lancaster Avenue pedestrian bridge, develop a riverfront academic and visitor center plan in Pottstown, open three new gateway information centers, establish the Heritage Partners Program, begin implementation of the Master Sign Plan, and construct several segments of the Schuylkill River Trail.
