Description: Lackawanna Valley National Heritage Area has worked to strengthen and enhance the development and preservation of the historic, cultural, natural, and economic resources of the communities along the Lackawanna River in northeastern Pennsylvania. This heritage area has assisted to interpret, preserve and educate the public about the unique role of the area and its people in the industrial development of the United States. Funding was provided to, in partnership with the Center for Anti-Slavery Studies, support the development of 'The Place I Call Home: Northeastern Pennsylvania's Underground Railroad History', provide assistance and oversight to the 'Geography: 21st Century Teaching and Learning' project, adn to complete final design and property acquisition for the Lackawanna Heritage Valley Riverfront Greenway.
