Year Enacted: 2005
Description: The Ice Age National Scientific Reserve is an Affiliated Area of the National Park System, established by the Act of October 13, 1964 [16 USC 469d et seq.], as amended by the Act of October 21, 1970 [16 USC 469g et seq.]. The Reserve preserves and interprets the landscape and land forms left by the most recent episode of continental glaciation in North America. The 1970 amendment authorized the Secretary of the Interior to 'pay up to 50 per centum of the annual costs of management, protection, maintenance, and rehabilitation of the reserve.' The funds are transferred through a cooperative agreement to the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR), which owns and manages the Reserve.
