Description: The USOVF projects addresses three main focus areas: (1) Provide airspace coordination with the FAA for unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) operators and testers; (2) Develop UAS operating processes and procedures. This includes approach and departure plates, standard instrument, and standard terminal arrival routes for various airports, as well as alternate or diversion airports in case of an in-flight emergency; (3) Develop a test and evaluation infrastructure for UAS operators and testers with flight operation facilities in New Mexico, Alaska, and Hawaii. These geographic areas are sparesely populated and are excellent test locations from which to fly mature and experimental UAVs.
