President Announces Karl Zinsmeister as Domestic Policy Advisor

President George W. Bush today announced that he has named Karl Zinsmeister to be Assistant to the President for Domestic Policy. Mr. Zinsmeister is Editor-in-Chief of The American Enterprise magazine, a national publication he founded twelve years ago that specializes in politics, business, and culture. He is also a J. B. "Karl has broad policy experience and a keen insight into many of the issues that face America's families and entrepreneurs, including race, poverty, welfare, and education. He is an innovative thinker and an accomplished executive. He will lead my domestic policy team with energy and a fresh perspective," stated President Bush.

During his distinguished career, Mr. Zinsmeister has been a writer and researcher, a film producer, and a weekly commentator for Radio America. He has served as a Member of the Board of Advisors of the Department of Education's National Fund for the Improvement and Reform of Schools and Teaching; a Research Director for The Working Seminar on Family and American Welfare Policy; and a Legislative Assistant to U.S. Senator Daniel Patrick Moynihan. Mr. Zinsmeister received his bachelor's degree from Yale University.
