President George W. Bush greets 11-year-old Vasila Hossaini in the Diplomatic Reception Room of the White House Thursday, June 2, 2005. The Afghan youth recently underwent surgery to correct a congenital heart defect that allows un-oxygenated blood to circulate through her body. Project Kids Worldwide, a non-profit organization, that helps provide surgery and other medical care to impoverished children suffering from heart defects, helped to arrange the meeting with the President. With her is her father, Arman, in dark jacket; filmmaker Stacia Teele, who is documenting Vasila's illness and trip, and Hameed Said, their interpreter. White House photo by Paul Morse
