Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today announced that he has named Karl Rove Assistant to the President, Deputy Chief of Staff and Senior Advisor.

"Karl Rove is a longtime advisor and trusted member of my team. His hard work and dedication have been invaluable. I appreciate Karl's willingness to continue to serve my Administration in this new position," stated President Bush.

Since 2001, Mr. Rove has served as Senior Advisor to the President, overseeing strategic planning, political affairs, public liaison, and intergovernmental affairs at the White House.

Prior to joining the Administration, he served as chief strategist for the Bush for President Campaign. From 1981 to1999, he was President of Karl Rove + Company, an Austin, Texas-based public affairs firm. Mr. Rove attended the University of Utah, the University of Texas at Austin and George Mason University.
