New AIDS Clinic Opens in Haiti
Fact of the Day

A new clinic in Jeremie, Haiti is supplying free anti-retroviral drugs for HIV-positive patients. In 2004 alone, between 25,000 and 34,000 Haitians died of AIDS, and about 200,000 Haitian children are infected with the virus. This is the second of 14 HIV/AIDS treatment sites in Haiti that are opening in 2005 with support from the American Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and the Agency for International Development.
