For Immediate Release
January 12, 2005

Global Message

On Jan. 30, Iraqis will democratically choose -- for the first time in decades -- their leaders.

Any imperfections in the elections can't erase the achievement of holding them in a country that -- less than two years ago -- was led by a brutal dictator.

The brave and patriotic citizens who cast their ballots on Jan. 30 will help Iraq repel the Saddamists and terrorists who want to return the country to an era of dictatorship and fear.

More than 14 million Iraqis are registered to vote and Iraqi citizens in 14 other countries will be able to cast ballots.

Polls make clear that people in all Iraqi communities want to participate in the upcoming elections. However, it is the terrorists who are trying to prevent some Iraqis from exercising their right to do so.
