International Community Aids Tsunami Victims
Fact of the Day

Governments across the globe are donating generously to relief and recovery efforts for South Asia's tsunami victims. The Australian, German and Japanese governments together are donating about $2 billion. Australias donation totals $812 million, and includes a fund to provide both direct grants and concessional loans for development projects. The German government is providing 500 million Euros (about $650 million) in reconstruction assistance. The Japanese government is making $500 million available for emergency assistance. These are just a few examples of the generosity of the international community to help relieve the suffering of tsunami victims and rebuild their homes and lives.
