Afghanistan Receives Loan for Major Road Reconstruction

The Asian Development Bank has approved an $80 million loan to improve Afghanistan's roads. More than half of them are in poor condition and only one-fifth are in good condition. The loan will aid the reconstruction of the last unpaved section of the primary ring road, about 210 km from Andkhoy to Qaisar in the Faryab province. This loan has a 40-year term and a grace period of 10 years, after which the annual interest rate will be one percent.
