Global Message

From remarks by Secretary of State Colin Powell in an interview with CNBC, 10/27/04

Terror has been on the world stage for many, many decades, and President Bush has been successful in pulling together a coalition of civilized nations that recognize the need to pursue terrorists and defeat them.

The United States will continue to consolidate the gains made in Afghanistan, which just had a very successful presidential election. Millions of Afghans wanted to vote and did, and were not denied by the Taliban, al-Qaida, or other terrorists.

Iraq will keep moving forward, will have a successful election, and is on its way to being a democratic nation. The insurgency must be defeated so that the Iraqi people can have that chance.

President Bush wants to continue to reach out to America's friends, partners, and allies around the world, and to strengthen our partnerships with them.
