U.S. Attacks Drug Cartel's Finances
Fact of the Day

The United States is attacking financial networks of Colombian drug lords. The Treasury Department recently recognized 23 Colombian businesses and 118 individuals as fronts for the notorious Cali drug cartel. The newly-designated front companies join the list of 379 other designated Colombian drug cartel businesses, which includes a stock brokerage, a charge card company, and a professional soccer team. The United States freezes assets and prohibits financial and commercial transactions, thereby exposing, isolating, and incapacitating the cartel's financial network.
