Afghan Women Seize New Educational Opportunities
Fact of the Day

The percentage of girls enrolled in Afghanistan's schools is the highest ever in Afghan history. Girls now constitute 35 percent of the 5.8 million Afghan schoolchildren. Afghan women, once denied education by the Taliban, are finally experiencing the educational opportunities they deserve. In a country where 86 percent of women are illiterate, the increased enrollment of women in schools offers hope for a better future.
