Baghdad Mayor Names New Inspector General
Iraq Fact of the Day

The mayor of Baghdad has named an Inspector General to help deter fraud, investigate any instances of graft, and deter waste and abuse of authority in the Baghdad city government. Tomma Jaberlog al-Akielie, a former auditor in several Iraqi ministries, has been named to the position. The appointment of an Inspector General at the City of Baghdad highlights the new Iraqi government's commitment to transparency and accountability to the Iraqi people.
