Foreign Ministry Returns to Iraqi Governance
Iraq Fact of the Day

Full authority of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs was formally handed back to the Iraqi people recently. Since his appointment last year, Minister Hoshyar Zebari and his staff have re-opened nearly 50 embassies worldwide. The Ministry is undertaking internal reform based on equal rights, democracy and good governance. Selections for diplomats are merit based, and young men and women are being trained to represent the integrity and ideals of the new Iraq. This is the 10th ministry to assume direct authority and is a significant step toward a sovereign Iraqi government.
