Iraqis Take Leadership of Water Ministry
Iraq Fact of the Day

The Ministry of Water Resources, responsible for managing irrigation and hydroelectric power, returned to Iraqi hands yesterday. The Ministry's impressive list of achievements include working with Turkish authorities to receive weekly reports on the status of reservoirs; restoring the marshlands deliberately drained by Saddam's regime; and clearing more than 10,000 miles of irrigation canals clogged with debris due to years of neglect. The transition of Iraq's Water Ministry is another example of Iraqis taking over the administration of their country.
