From remarks by President Bush, 4/28/04

We will have a successful transfer of power in Iraq and June 30th date is a solid date.

President Bush has laid out a broad strategy that says that Iraq will be as secure as possible; and that the coalition will deal with those who want to stop the march to freedom.

The closer we come to passing sovereignty, the more likely it is that foreign fighters, disgruntled Baathists or friends of the Shia cleric will try to stop progress. They want to kill innocent civilians to try to get us to quit. We are not going to quit.

Military commanders will take whatever action is necessary to secure Fallujah on behalf of the Iraqi people.

There will be joint patrols with Iraqi police in Fallujah, and most of the area is returning to normal. There are pockets of resistance, and our military, along with Iraqis, will make sure Fallujah is secure.
