Two UN Teams Assist with Transition
Iraq Fact of the Day

Two teams of United Nations officials are assisting with Iraq's transition to sovereignty. UN Envoy Lakdhar Brahimi met this week with members of the Iraqi Governing Council, political parties, women's groups, and others, to discuss the assembly of an interim government to assume power on June 30th. The second UN team includes their top elections specialist. Her team is developing plans for Iraq's national elections in January 2005. The international community continues to work together toward building a free and secure Iraq.
