Personnel Announcement
President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate two individuals to serve in his administration:
The President intends to nominate Stuart Levey, of Maryland, to be Under Secretary of the Treasury for Enforcement in charge of overseeing the new Office of Terrorism and Financial Intelligence. Mr. Levey currently serves as Principal Associate Deputy Attorney General at the Department of Justice. He previously served as Associate Deputy Attorney General and Chief of Staff to the Deputy Attorney General at the Department of Justice. Mr. Levey earned his bachelor's degree from Harvard University and his Juris Doctors from Harvard Law School.
The President intends to nominate Juan Carlos Zarate, of California, to be an Assistant Secretary of the Treasury (Terrorist Finance). Mr. Zarate currently serves as Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Treasury for the Executive Office of Terrorist Financing and Financial Crime. Prior to working at the Department of the Treasury, he served as prosecutor in the Department of Justice's Terrorism and Violent Crime Section. Mr. Zarate earned his bachelor's degree from Harvard University and his Juris Doctors from Harvard Law School.
