Iraq Unanimously Elected Observer at WTO
Iraq Fact of the Day

Yesterday, Iraq was granted observer status in the World Trade Organization. The vote was unanimous - all 146 WTO members supported Iraq's bid. This is an important step toward the new Iraq's integration into the global economy. By already adopting new trade and investment policies, Iraq has made clear its commitment to the principles of WTO. Trade Minister, Dr. Ali Allawi, formally announced Iraq's acceptance at a press conference in Baghdad, saying "the real winners are the Iraqi people...this gives all of us great hope for the future."
