Excerpts from the Press Briefing by Scott McClellan, October 29, 2003 (Full Transcript)
QUESTION: I have a follow-up -- on another issue. Governor-elect Schwarzenegger is in Washington. Has the President talked to him or Governor Davis after the fires started --MR. McCLELLAN: I don't have any updates on conversations he had. Obviously, FEMA Director Mike Brown has been in the region; I think he's briefing congressional people today. We are continuing to monitor the situation and make sure that the area -- that California has the resources they need to fight these fires and bring them fully under control and protect the property and homes of people in the area, and the lives, as well.
