Personnel Announcement

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate and designate one individual to serve in his administration:

The President intends to nominate James M. Loy, of Virginia, to be Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security, and intends to designate him Acting Deputy Secretary of Homeland Security. Admiral Loy currently serves as the Administrator for the Transportation Security Administration. He previously served as Under Secretary of Transportation for Security. Earlier in his career, Admiral Loy served as Commandant of the Coast Guard and Coast Guard Chief of Staff. He graduated from the U. S. Coast Guard Academy in 1964 and holds masters degrees from Wesleyan University and the University of Rhode Island.
