Statement on U.S.-U.K. Exchange of Defense-Related Information
Statement by the Press Secretary

President Bush and Prime Minister Blair today agreed to change existing policies in ways that will further strengthen and deepen our defense relationship. In an exchange of letters, President Bush and Prime Minister Blair have committed to steps that will improve and increase the ability of appropriately-cleared United States and United Kingdom Governments and military personnel to share sensitive information.

In addition, the United States and the United Kingdom have agreed to create a Bilateral Defense Acquisition Committee, chaired by the Department of Defense and the Ministry of Defense. The Committee will address defense acquisition, procurement and logistical activities, and commercial cooperation activities.
