Global Message

PRESIDENT BUSH'S MESSAGE TO THE TROOPS IN QATAR
Camp As Sayliyah, Qatar, 6/4/03

America sent its troops on a mission to remove a grave threat from Iraq, and to liberate an oppressed people. That mission has been accomplished and America is proud.

The President thanked the British, the Australian, and the Polish forces for their service to the cause of freedom. He also thanked members of the armed forces of Qatar for their hospitality and friendship.

We are in a global war on terror and, because of our forces, we are winning.

Our troops have performed brilliantly. In Afghanistan, forces directed from Qatar and headquartered in Tampa delivered decisive blows against the Taliban and against al Qaeda. Now, the people of Afghanistan are free.

Our actions have sent a clear message that our nation is strong and our nation is compassionate. Dictators can no longer shield themselves behind innocent people. Those who threaten the security of others now need to worry about their own.
