Global Message

KEY POINTS: MIDEAST ROADMAP

  • The roadmap will help guide the parties forward toward realization of the vision presented by the President on June 24, 2002, of two states living side by side in peace and security.

  • President Bush said we would welcome Israeli and Palestinian comments about the roadmap. Israel has significant concerns about the roadmap. We recognize that these concerns are real. As we move forward and implement the roadmap, Israel's concerns will be addressed fully and seriously.

  • The Israelis accept the vision of the two state solution as set out in the President's June 24 speech and are prepared to accept the steps laid out in the roadmap.

  • Nobody wants the roadmap to become a roadblock. It is a guide forward, a call to concrete action.

  • We must act. As we move forward to implement the roadmap, we will address all parties' concerns.
