President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate two individuals and appoint one individual to serve in his administration:
The President intends to nominate Frank Libutti of New York, to be Under Secretary for Information Analysis and Infrastructure Protection, Department of Homeland Security. Mr. Libutti currently serves as the New York City Police Department's Deputy Commissioner of Counter Terrorism. He previously served as Special Assistant for Homeland Security at the Department of Defense. A retired Lieutenant General in the United States Marine Corps, he was honored with several personal decorations during his 35-year military career. His honors include the Defense Distinguished Service Medal, the Distinguished Service Medal, the Silver Star Medal, the Defense Superior Service Medal, as well as a Purple Heart. Mr. Libutti is a graduate of The Citadel.
The President intends to nominate John E. Buchanan of Oregon, to be a Member of the National Museum Services Board for the remainder of a five-year term expiring December 6, 2006. Mr. Buchanan currently serves as the Executive Director of the Portland Art Museum. Previously, he served as the Director of the Dixon Gallery and Gardens, and as Executive Director of the Lakeview Museum of Arts and Sciences. Mr. Buchanan graduated from the University of the South and earned his master's degree from Vanderbilt University.
The President intends to appoint William Batoff of Pennsylvania, to be a Member of the Advisory Committee to the Pension Benefit Guaranty Corporation (Public) for a three-year term expiring February 19, 2006. Mr. Batoff currently serves as President of Batoff Associates. He received his A.S. from the Pennsylvania Institute of Technology.
