Statement by the Deputy Press Secretary

On Thursday, November 7, 2002, the President signed into law:

H.R. 3253, the "Department of Veterans Affairs Emergency Preparedness Act of 2002", which authorizes programs and activities in the Department of Veterans Affairs to assist in preparing for and responding to terrorist activities and other national disasters;

H.R. 4015, the "Jobs for Veterans Act", which revises employment, training, and placement services furnished to veterans through the Veterans Employment and Training Service Program at the Department of Labor;

H.R. 5205, which authorizes the Secretary of the Treasury to use estimates when calculating enhancements to retirement benefits for certain District of Columbia police;

H.R. 5574, which designates the facility of the United States Postal Service located at 206 South Main Street in Glennville, Georgia, as the Michael Lee Woodcock Post Office.
