Statement by the Press Secretary
Visit of President Vaclav Havel of the Czech Republic
President Bush will welcome President Vaclav Havel of the Czech Republic to Washington on September 18. President Havel is a lifelong proponent of democracy and was a leader in the fight for freedom in Central and Eastern Europe.
The Czech Republic is a close friend and ally of the United States and stands by the United States in the war on terrorism. President Havel shares the Presidents vision of creating a Europe whole, free and at peace and will host the upcoming NATO Summit in November.
