Statement by the Press Secretary
United Nations General Assembly Special Session on Children

The United States will send a delegation to the United Nations General Assembly Special Session on Children in New York, May 8-10, 2002. The Special Session on Children will be an important gathering of world leaders and child advocates committed to advancing international cooperation designed to improve the lives of children. The United States delegation will be headed by Secretary of Health and Human Services Tommy Thompson. The Delegation will include the Administrator of the United States Agency for International Development, Andrew Natsios, who will lead the delegation May 10, following Secretary Thompson's departure.
