President Bush Announced His Intention to Nominate Peter Terpeluk, Jr. to be Ambassador to Luxembourg

President George W. Bush today announced his intention to nominate Peter Terpeluk, Jr. to be Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States of America to Luxembourg.

"Peter Terpeluk is an accomplished business leader and public servant.  His commitment to community service, experience in economic development, and understanding of international relations will make him a very effective Ambassador to Luxembourg," said President Bush.

Mr. Terpeluk has been a managing director of the American Continental Group since 1994.  In 1986, he founded the consulting firm Terpeluk and Associates and simultaneously he was a Principal in the Washington Office of Wojdak and Associates from 1989 to 1993.

Mr. Terpeluk's public service began when he served as Town Manager in two Southeastern Pennsylvania Township from 1972 to 1981.  From 1981 to 1984, he served with the U.S. Small Business Administration, first as the Regional Administrator for the mid-Atlantic region and then as Deputy National Administrator.  In 1984, he became the Executive Director of the Greater Philadelphia First Corporation, where he worked closely with area government and business leaders to spur economic growth throughout the region.  In 1990, President George H. W. Bush appointed Terpeluk to the Board of Directors of the Pennsylvania Avenue Development Commission.  He was previously Of Counsel to the Forum for International Policy, chaired by Brent Scowcroft.

A Pennsylvania native, Terpeluk earned a bachelor's degree from LaSalle College and a Master's degree in Public Administration from Rider College.
