Guy Caruso was Executive Director of the Strategic Energy Initiative at the Center for Strategic and International Studies from 1998 until his current appointment. In addition, he served as Director of the National Energy Strategy Project from 2000 until 2001. From 1993 to 1998, he was the Director of the Office of Non-Member Countries for the International Energy Agency in Paris, France. From 1986 to 1993, he was with the Department of Energy, first in the Office of Energy Emergencies and International Affairs and then in the Office of Domestic and International Energy Policy. He had previously served as Head of the Oil Industry Division at the International Energy Agency, the Director of the Office of Market Analysis in the Office of International Affairs at the Department of Energy, and as a Senior Economic Analyst at the Central Intelligence Agency. Guy earned both a bachelor's degree and Master's degree from the University of Connecticut and a Master's in Public Affairs from the JFK School of Government at Harvard University.
