Mr. Siff currently serves as the Chief of Staff to Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao.
Mr. Siff is a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin and Cornell Law School.
Following law school, Mr. Siff clerked for the Honorable Danny J. Boggs, of the United States Sixth Circuit Court of Appeals. He subsequently worked in private practice at the Washington, D.C. law firm of Wiley, Rein & Fielding.
In March of 1999, Mr. Siff became Counsel to the United States Senate Committee on Rules and Administration. He was later promoted to Chief Counsel.
While at the Rules Committee, Mr. Siff was responsible for all matters related to federal election law, oversight of the Federal Election Commission, and nominations to the Federal Election Commission. He also served as Chief Counsel to the 2001 Joint Congressional Committee on Inaugural Ceremonies.
Mr. Siff previously served as Counselor to the Secretary of Labor Elaine L. Chao from April 2001 to December 2003. His responsibilities included: advising the Secretary on political and policy matters; acting as the Secretary’s liaison to organized labor as well as serving as a board member of the Department’s Policy, Planning and Review Board and the Department’s Budget Committee.
In this role, Mr. Siff coordinates the Secretary’s senior executive team and coordinates budget and policy development, congressional and public affairs, and strategic planning for the $72.6 billion, 17,000-employee federal agency.
