Beth Jones -- Department of State
Assistant Secretary of State for European & Eurasian Affairs

Previously, Beth Jones served as Senior Advisor for Caspian Basin Energy Diplomacy, after having been Principal Deputy Assistant Secretary in the State Department's Bureau of Near Eastern Affairs from 1998 until 2000. She was Ambassador to the Republic of Kazakhstan from 1995 to 1998 and Executive Assistant to Secretary of State Warren Christopher from 1993 to 1994. Her overseas assignments were concentrated in the Middle East, South Asia and Germany. Beth was Deputy Chief of Mission in Bonn, Germany from 1992 to 1993 and in Islamabad, Pakistan from 1988 to 1992. She graduated from Swarthmore College and earned a Master's degree in international relations from Boston University's overseas program in Berlin.
